Newman Center

Keene State College

A message from Newman Center

The Newman Center for Keene State College ministers to all college students and young adults in the area. The Newman Center is named for Blessed John Henry Newman, who in his writings encouraged the creation of societies for Catholic students at secular universities, in order that they may have a place to gather to encourage and support each other in the faith. Although the Newman Center is a ministry of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester, we minister to all students and young adults, regardless of their religious affiliation or lack thereof. Our primary ministry is to Keene State College students, but we also welcome Antioch University and River Valley Community College students, as well as young adults in their twenties. All are welcome.

Catholic Campus Ministry and Young Adult Ministry at the Newman Center also is blessed to be able to participate in the sacramental and parish life of St. Bernard Church, which is part of the Parish of the Holy Spirit, together with the St. Margaret Mary in West Keene and Immaculate Conception in Troy. The Newman Center is located off Main Street one block north of the Keene State College campus in the Clairvaux Center, on the campus of St. Bernard Church. Located on the lower floor, our facilities include a meeting room with comfortable couches, a pool table, a piano and a full kitchen. Upstairs from the Newman Center is the Adoration Chapel as well as the lending library of the Catholic Faith Formation Center.
