Pius XII Catholic Newman Center
South Dakota State University
A message from Pius XII Catholic Newman Center
Pius XII Newman Center is the Catholic mission to South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. Founded in 1960 under Bishop Lambert Hoch and with the direction of Father, now Monsignor Richard Mahowald, Pius XII Newman Center strives to provide a safe place for Catholic students at SDSU.
Located on the intersection of 14th Ave and 8th St and right across from Brown Hall, Pius XII Newman Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week allowing students a place to study, play, and pray in the midst of college life. College is increasingly difficult and challenging to students who come to campus with open hearts and minds. Pius XII Newman Center provides Catholic formation through the Sacraments, Sacred Scripture, and various educational opportunities to learn Jesus’ answers to the questions of our own day.
We host the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) on our campus and they are here to serve you also.
