A message from St. Thomas More Newman Center
Dear Class of 2023:
On behalf of Newman Parish, we welcome you to the Catholic Church on the University of Missouri Campus! Whether you attend Mizzou, Columbia College, or Stephens College, Newman can be your faith home while in college.
You are never alone! Jesus is with you always. Professors and campus administrators will encourage and challenge you to learn and grow in many areas of college life. However, the most important steps you can take will deepen your faith in Christ and lead you to share your God-given gifts with others. Your fellow Newman students and campus ministers are here to accompany you as you navigate this time of transition and discovery.
In our time accompanying students, there are three choices you as a new student can make that really impact your time here.
1. Pray & Go to Mass! Talk to the Lord every day! Look inside for Sunday Mass, Daily Mass, and Adoration times. We also have tips on learning how to grow in prayer.
2. Bring a friend! It’s a lot easier to come to Mass and other events with a buddy. Newman has lots of ways to get to know other students through our Welcome Week events. You can join our 2022 Newman First Years GroupMe to connect to other students right now!
3. Be Persistent and Ask for Help! If you’re not finding a ministry or experience that’s working for you, keep trying and keep praying! Ask for help! Newman has many, many different opportunities. Our campus ministry staff and missionaries can help you find something that works for you. We also have a licensed professional Catholic counselor on our staff to accompany you in tough times.
We encourage you to reach out to us at campus.ministry@comonewman.org if you have any questions! We look forward to meeting you!
Peace in Christ,
