University of Minnesota – Duluth
A message from Newman Catholic Campus Ministry
We would like to take a moment to welcome you to UMD. It is great to have you here and we look forward to meeting you!
One thing often overlooked in the busyness of class schedules and extracurricular activities, is who we are meant to be. Above all, before we are called to be students, friends, or someone’s roommate, we are called to be disciples. We are meant to become a saint! Think about that! It is daunting, exciting, challenging, and incredibly awesome to realize that our very reason for being is to live our lives striving to become a saint!
It is incredibly easy to forget that. Amidst all that occupies our lives and minds, we are called first and foremost to enter into a deeper relationship with Jesus of Nazareth.
That is what we are about! It is our goal to help you foster that relationship. To help you encounter the person of Christ. That is our mission.
There are many opportunities available to you to foster your spiritual growth. God is working great on this campus and wants to use you to build His Kingdom. We want to do all that we can to welcome you! To make you feel at home. Know that we are here and that you are in our prayers!
In Christ,
Father Mike Schmitz, Heather Serena, and the entire Newman Community
